Interview with CivicActions

What does your shop do and how do you work with Drupal?

CivicActions provides internet strategy and solutions to people and organizations working for progressive and sustainable change, here in America, and abroad.

We have deployed over 100 Drupal websites for world-changing organizations since 2005. We also specialize in CiviCRM. All of our projects are lead by expert project managers.

How did you first get involved in Drupal development?

We were on the "ground floor" of Drupal's popularity in the united states. Basically in 2003/2004 when all the presidential primary campaigns that didn't win were licking their wounds, a bunch of the technologists got together to discuss what worked and what didn't from a technological perspective.

Drupal was a clear winner because of the Deanspace Phenomena. We started working with CivicSpace (no formal relation, just a common 5 letters of our names) and quickly switched to using unadulterated Drupal.

What type of work and/or websites do you specialize in?

We are really a full service shop with nearly 40 people working with us. That includes dsigners, information architects, project managers, strategy consultants, front and back end drupal developers, of course.

We specialize in nonprofit clients, and projects that serve the greater good - environment, health, human rights, arts and education. We've built sites for Amnesty International, and the Center For Reproductive Rights, these are content heavy sites that act as resources for activists, politicians and the press.

What are you most looking forward to at DrupalCamp Colorado?

Unfortunately I won't be there. I know so sad. I love Denver. But the good news is two of our team members will be there, Andy Hawks and Sam Davis. I am looking forward to hearing from them how it goes.

CivicActions has been involved in organizing DrupalCamps since their beginning to 2006, and it is so gratifying to see how these local events have grown to be bigger than the first 4 or more DrupalCons.

We really hope that you all have a great time in Colorado, and are happy and proud to be a sponsor.
