Interview with Commerce Guys

What does your shop do and how do you work with Drupal?

Commerce Guys is the leading Drupal based e-commerce development shop, offering a full range of services including consulting, project management, development, and third party service integration for e-commerce websites. We also work with companies who have future e-commerce needs and want to lay a strong foundation from the earliest stages of their sites' development. Finally, we're spearheading the development of Drupal Commerce as a D7 native e-commerce solution that takes advantage of the latest and greatest features of Drupal. How did you first get involved in Drupal development?

Different people on the team came to Drupal through different channels. Ryan got his start by diving in over his head developing Ubercart at his previous job. Mike and Tim were childhood friends who came into Drupal to sell LED Christmas lights online after deciding to go into business together. They started Commerce Guys and brought Ryan in to make the company the premier Ubercart development shop. Recently, the company has grown by joining forces with the incredible Drupal team from af83 based in Paris, France.

What type of work and/or websites do you specialize in?

E-commerce is our specialty, and we're continually refining our management and development processes to meet e-commerce needs better. There's a lot that can go wrong and even more that needs to go right to build a successful e-commerce site, so specializing in e-commerce on Drupal has been anything but a bore!

What are you most looking forward to at DrupalCamp Colorado?

The people and the scenery, hands down some of the best in the country. We're especially looking forward to meeting with collaborators on the Drupal Commerce project and bringing more contributors to the project. Tim also can't wait to sink his teeth into the meatloaf at the Great Northern.

Is there anything else you'd like our attendees to know?

Two things actually! First, Commerce Guys will be hosting a Drupal Commerce sprint the week after DrupalCamp. If anyone wants to join us in our Jackson, MI office June 29 - July 2, they can let us know and we're happy to advise on logistics. Those that can't make it physically can always join us virtually in the #drupalcommerce channel on IRC and in the issue tracker at http://drupal.org/project/issues/commerce.

Second, Commerce Guys is also looking for Drupal developers willing to work in office in Jackson, MI, San Francisco, or Paris. Never been to Jackson? Come to the sprint and scope it out! ; )
