Interview with Pixel Apropos

What does your shop do and how do you work with Drupal?

For people who already have a website up and running (or sort of running), we do consulting, troubleshooting and development, and we implement some of our suggestions. We also work with other development companies to provide specific solutions, particularly Drupal theming.

How did you first get involved in Drupal development?

The nonprofit Brian was working for (Teaming for Technology Colorado) needed a new website. Brian started to write a CMS from scratch and decided there must be a better way. He discovered Drupal and Joomla, and was just about to develop their site in Joomla when Drupal 5 came out and was hooked.
It's hacky and amateurish, but that Drupal 5 site is still running.

After awhile of maintaining and developing T4T's site, another developer, Steve Kessler (Denver DataMan) whom we met through the nonprofit Teaming for Technology, asked for assistance with his web development work. And here we are.

What type of work and/or websites do you specialize in?

Most of our work is subcontracted theming, whether literally writing a theme or subtheme for a Drupal installation, or using CSS, PHP, and JavaScript to make a site display as intended.

Mostly we work with small businesses and nonprofits.

What are you most looking forward to at DrupalCamp Colorado?

Brian is hoping to see some familiar faces at DrupalCamp; he used to attend local Drupal meetups regularlly, but has been working nights and hasn't been able to make any, recently. He's also tentatively excited about presenting and introductory theming session. Kelda is looking forward to Small Shops and Freelancers to see what Denver DataMan has to say about working with us.

Is there anything else you'd like our attendees to know?

If you're new to theming, come see Brian's session on "Building Your First Theme from Scratch" on Saturday morning.
