Interview with Monarch Digital

What does your shop do and how do you work with Drupal?

Monarch Digital is my third technology startup. Monarch has worked with Drupal since 4.7. We have gradually moved from being a multimedia company to exclusively developing Drupal web sites.

How did you first get involved in Drupal development?

I learned about Drupal from a TWIT podcast. Matt Tucker, one of employees at the time (ultimateboy on Drupal.org) and I just were amazed at the power of this DRU-PAL thing.

The folks at our company helped to found the Southern Colorado Drupal Users' Group after DrupalCamp Colorado 2008. Personally, I am a Drupal evangelist, introducing many developers and end users to Drupal and the entire open source concept. At Monarch, I like to hire and train local college students in Drupal, helping to make Drupal an even more prominent go-to solution.

What type of work and/or websites do you specialize in?

Within the last year, we've done three large state web sites and two school districts. We are currently working on a large multi-site implementation for the Mercedes-Benz Club of America.

What are you most looking forward to at DrupalCamp Colorado?

I'm looking forward to reconnecting and meeting other local Drupalers. Personally, I don't have the time (or don't make the time) to spend on IRC, so DrupalCamp Colorado is my big point of connection. Our entire staff will be at DrupalCamp Colorado. I'm always humbled by what others are doing with Drupal; I'm looking forward to what my staff will take away from this great event.

Is there anything else you'd like our attendees to know?

Please come talk to me, Rick Nashleanas. I'm older than most of you, but don't let that turn you off!

Thanks for the memory Rick..

Thanks for the memory Rick.. I still remember sitting there in the office looking at Drupal for the first time. If I only knew then that drupal would consume my life maybe I would have stopped :)
